Drag and Drop multiple files for batch ffmpeg processing

Pre-requisite:

32-bit

Download and place ffmpeg.exe in the “C:\windows\system32” folder

http://ffmpeg.zeranoe.com/builds/win32/static/ffmpeg-20121230-git-518239c-win32-static.7z

64-bit (may also use above 32-bit pre-requisite)

Download and place ffmpeg.exe in the “C:\windows\syswow64” folder

These are a few common batch files I use to convert audio files quickly, within the windows gui.

convert to alac (apple – lossless)

echo off
:again
ffmpeg.exe -i “%~1” -acodec alac “%~p1%~n1.m4a”
shift
if “%~1” == “” goto:eof
goto:again

convert to mp3 192kbps

echo off
:again
ffmpeg.exe -i “%~1” -f mp3 -ab 192000 -ar 44100 -vn “%~p1%~n1.mp3”
shift
if “%~1” == “” goto:eof
goto:again

convert to mp3 320kbps

echo off
:again
ffmpeg.exe -i “%~1” -f mp3 -ab 320000 -ar 44100 -vn “%~p1%~n1.mp3”
shift
if “%~1” == “” goto:eof
goto:again

Save these as separate batch files & create desktop shortcuts to them.

Then just drag and drop your music files on them & wait.

There may be errors for high quality files, like 96khz or 32-bit recordings.

If you would like to use these for batch processing from ‘right-click’/context menu – add the batch file to the file extensions’ registry entries. Google search for how – there are a few free applications to do this.
